Chunxing GL-15 / GL-16 Over-Current Relay User Manual

The GL-15 and 16 series overcurrent relays from Chunxing Electric Technology are AC-operated protection relays that can be used to protect motors, transformers, and transmission lines from overload and short circuits. The GL-16 series overcurrent relays also have a pair of auxiliary signal contacts that can be used to send a signal in the event of an overload.

About this manual

The GL‑15 and GL‑16 over‑current relays are AC protection devices for motors, transformers and transmission lines. They combine induction and electromagnetic elements to detect overload and short‑circuit conditions, and the GL‑16 version includes an additional signal contact for overload indication.

The manual describes the relay’s structure, adjustment of actuation current and time, wiring configurations (protruding front, protruding rear and embedded rear), installation guidelines, maintenance procedures, and the technical data such as rated current, frequency, power consumption, insulation strength and weight. This manual is written in Chinese.

Frequently asked questions

How do I adjust the operating current of the relay?

Adjust the current by turning the adjustment screws; first insert the spare screw into the required slot, then remove the other screw and insert it into the spare slot to avoid simultaneous adjustment screws in marked slots.

What is the maximum voltage for the GL‑16 signal contact?

The signal contact can operate up to 220 V and switch DC 0.2 A or AC 1 A.

How often should the relay be inspected during use?

It is recommended to check the relay’s operation every six months.
