AC138, ACT138, CD74AC238 and CD74ACT238 are 3-to-8-line decoders/demultiplexers that utilize Advanced CMOS Logic technology. Both circuits have three binary select inputs (A0, A1 and A2). If the device is enabled, these inputs determine which one of the eight normally HIGH out- puts of the AC/ACT138 will go LOW or which on of the nor- mally LOW outputs of the AC/ACT238 will go HIGH. Two active LOW and one active HIGH enables (E1, E2 and E3) are provided to simplify the cascading of these devices.
About this manual
The CD54/74AC138, CD54/74ACT138, CD74AC238, and CD74ACT238 are 3‑to‑8 line decoders/demultiplexers built with advanced CMOS logic. They feature three binary select inputs and active‑low/high enable pins for easy cascading. The devices support a wide supply voltage range and provide high‑speed operation with low power consumption.
Key specifications include a typical propagation delay of 5 ns, ESD protection exceeding 2 kV (MIL‑STD‑883), and operation over a temperature range of –55 °C to 125 °C. Available in 16‑lead CERDIP, PDIP, and SOIC packages, these parts are suitable for a variety of digital logic applications.
