Allegro 3209 AND 3210 Manual
The A3209Ex and A3210Ex integrated circuits are ultra-sensitive, pole independent Hall-effect switches with a latched digital output. They are especially suited for operation in battery-operated, hand-held equipment such as cellular and cordless telephones, pagers, and palmtop computers. The devices operate at 2.5 to 3.5 volts and have a unique clocking scheme that reduces the average operating power requirements to 400 µW for the A3209Ex and 25 µW for the A3210Ex. Unlike other Hall-effect switches, these devices can be triggered by either a north or south pole of sufficient strength, and the output is off in the absence of a magnetic field. The polarity independence and low power requirement make these devices suitable replacements for reed switches, providing superior reliability and ease of manufacturing without the need for signal conditioning. The devices utilize chopper stabilization for improved stability, reducing the residual offset voltage caused by device overmolding, temperature dependencies, and thermal stress. They integrate a Hall-voltage generator, small-signal amplifier, chopper stabilization, a latch, and a MOSFET output on a single silicon chip using advanced BiCMOS processing, which enables low-voltage and low-power operation, component matching, low input-offset errors, and small component geometries.
