MAX1491/MAX1493/MAX1495 low-power, 3.5- and 4.5-digit, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with integrated liquid crystal display (LCD) drivers operate from a single 2.7V to 5.25V power supply. They include an internal reference, a high-accuracy on-chip oscillator, and a triplexed LCD driver. An internal charge pump generates the negative supply needed to power the integrated input buffer for single supply operation. The ADC is configurable for either a ±2V or ±200mV input range and it outputs its conversion results to an LCD. The MAX1491 is a 3.5-digit (±1,999 count) device, and the MAX1493/MAX1495 are 4.5-digit (±19,999 count) devices. The MAX1491/MAX1493/MAX1495 do not require external-precision integrating or auto-zero capacitors, crystals oscillators, charge pumps or other circuitry required with dual slope ADCs (commonly used in panel meter circuits). These devices also feature on-chip buffers for the differential signal and reference inputs, allowing direct interface with high-impedance signal sources. In addition, the MAX1491/MAX1493/MAX1495 use continuous internal offset calibration, and offer >100dB rejection of 50Hz and 60Hz line noise. The MAX1493/MAX1495 perform enhanced offset calibration at power-up. The MAX1495 also performs enhanced calibration on demand. Other features include data hold and peak hold, and a user programmable low-battery monitor. The MAX1493/MAX1495 come in a 32-pin 7mm x 7mm TQFP package, and the MAX1491 comes in a 16-pin 5mm x 5mm SOIC package.

The MAX1450 sensor signal conditioner is optimized for piezoresistive sensor calibration and temperature compensation. It includes an adjustable current source for sensor excitation and a 3-bit programmable-gain amplifier (PGA). The MAX1450 compensates offset, full-span output (FSO), offset tempco, FSO tempco, and FSO nonlinearity of silicon piezoresistive sensors via external trimmable resistors, potentiometers, or digital-to-analog converters (DACs), achieving a total typical error factor within 1% of the sensor’s inherent repeatability errors. The MAX1450 is capable of compensating sensors that display close error distributions with a single temperature point, making it ideal for low-cost, medium-accuracy applications. Although optimized for use with popular piezoresistive sensors, it may also be used with other resistive sensor types such as strain gauges. Maxim can customize the MAX1450 for unique requirements including improved power specifications. The MAX1334/MAX1335 are 2-channel, serial-output, 10-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that feature two true-differential analog inputs and offer outstanding noise immunity and dynamic performance. Both devices easily interface with SPI™/QSPI™/MICROWIRE™ and standard digital signal processors (DSPs). The MAX1334 operates from a single +4.75V to +5.25V supply with sampling rates up to 4.5Msps. The MAX1335 operates from a single +2.7V to +3.6V supply with sampling rates up to 4Msps. These devices feature a partial power-down mode and a full power-down mode that reduce the supply current to 3.3mA and 0.2µA, respectively. Also featured is a separate power- supply input (DVDD) that allows direct interfacing to +2.7V to +3.6V digital logic. The fast conversion speed, low power dissipation, excellent AC performance, and DC accuracy (±0.4 LSB INL) make the MAX1334/ MAX1335 ideal for industrial process control, motor control, and base-station applications. The MAX1334/MAX1335 are available in a space-sav- ing (3mm x 3mm), 16-pin, TQFN package and operate over the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range.

The MAX5921/MAX5939 hot-swap controllers allow a circuit card to be safely hot plugged into a live backplane. The MAX5921/MAX5939 operate from -20V to -80V and are well suited for -48V power systems. These devices are pin compatible with both the LT1640 and LT4250 and provide improved features over these devices. The MAX5921/MAX5939 provide a controlled turn-on to circuit cards preventing damage to board connectors, board components, and preventing glitches on the power-supply rail. The MAX5921/MAX5939 provide undervoltage, overvoltage, and overcurrent protection. These devices ensure that the input voltage is stable and within tolerance before applying power to the load. Both the MAX5921 and MAX5939 protect a system against overcurrent and short-circuit conditions by turning off the external MOSFET in the event of a fault condition. The MAX5921/MAX5939 protect against input voltage steps by limiting the load current to a safe level without turning off power to the load. The device features an open-drain power-good status output, PWRGD or PWRGD for enabling downstream converters (see Selector Guide). A built-in thermal shutdown feature is also included to protect the external MOSFET in case of overheating. The MAX5939 features a latched fault output. The MAX5921 contains built-in autoretry circuitry after a fault condition. The MAX5921/MAX5939 are available in an 8-pin SO package and operate in the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range.

The MAX5251 combines four low-power, voltage-output, 10-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and four precision output amplifiers in a space-saving, 20-pin package. It is ideal for industrial-process-control applications due to its configurable output amplifiers, remote sensing, and high output drive capacity. Other features include software shutdown, hardware shutdown lockout, an active-low reset, a user-programmable logic output, and a serial-data output. Each DAC has a double-buffered input organized as an input register followed by a DAC register. A 16-bit serial word loads data into each input/DAC register. The 3-wire serial interface is compatible with SPI™/QSPI™ and Microwire™. All logic inputs are TTL/CMOS-logic compatible.

MAX492/MAX494/MAX495 Precision Operational Amplifiers are low-voltage single-supply, rail-to-rail input and output operational amplifiers ideal for portable equipment, battery-powered instruments, data acquisition and signal conditioning applications.

The MAX4571–MAX4574 serial-interface controlled switches are ideal for multimedia applications. Each device features 35Ω max on-resistance, -90dB audio off-isolation at 20kHz, -60dB video off-isolation at 1.0MHz, and “clickless” mode operation for audio applications.

The MAX4561/MAX4568/MAX4569 are low-voltage, ESD-protected analog switches. The features and characteristics include: protection against ±15kV electrostatic discharge, operating voltage range of +1.8V to +12V, good channel-to-channel resistance matching, ability to handle Rail-to-Rail® analog signals, low leakage current, and low logic thresholds.

The DS1721 2-Wire Digital Thermometer and Thermostat provides 12-bit temperature readings, which indicate the temperature of the device. Thermostatic settings and temperature readings are all communicated to/from the DS1721 over a simple 2-wire serial interface. No additional components are required; the device is truly a "temperature-to-digital" converter. The DS1721 has three address bits that allow a user to multidrop up to eight sensors along the 2-wire bus, greatly simplifying the bussing of distributed temperature sensing networks.
