  • MAXIM MAX2240 handbook

The MAX2240 single-supply, low-voltage power amplifier (PA) IC is designed specifically for applications in the 2.4GHz to 2.5GHz frequency band. The PA is compliant with Bluetooth, HomeRF, and 802.11 standards, as well as other FSK modulation systems. The PA provides a nominal +20dBm (100mW) output power in the highest power mode. The PA includes a digital power control circuit to greatly simplify control of the output power. Four digitally controlled output power levels are provided: from +3dBm to +20dBm. A digital input controls the active or shutdown operating modes of the PA. In the shutdown mode, the current reduces to 0.5µA. The IC integrates the RF input and interstage matching to simplify application of the IC. Temperature and supply-independent biasing are also included to provide stable performance under all operating conditions. The IC operates from a +2.7V to +5V single-supply voltage. No negative bias voltage is required. Current consumption is a modest 105mA at the highest power level. The part is packaged in the UCSP™ package significantly reducing the required PC board area. The chip occupies only a 1.56mm x 1.56mm area. The 3 x 3 array of solder bumps are spaced with a 0.5mm bump pitch.

  • MAXIM MAX2242 handbook

The MAX2242 low-voltage linear power amplifier (PA) is designed for 2.4GHz ISM-band wireless LAN applications. It delivers +22.5dBm of linear output power with an adjacent-channel power ratio (ACPR) compliant with the IEEE 802.11b 11MB/s WLAN standard and at least 3dB margin. The PA is packaged in a tiny 3x4 chip-scale package (UCSP™) measuring only 1.5mm x 2.0mm, making it ideal for radios built in small PC card and compact flash card form factors. The MAX2242 PA consists of a three-stage PA, power detector, and power management circuitry. The power detector provides over 20dB of dynamic range with ±0.8dB accuracy at the highest output power level. An accurate automatic level control (ALC) function can be easily implemented using this detector circuit. The PA also features an external bias control pin, allowing the current to be throttled back at lower output power levels while maintaining sufficient ACPR performance. As a result, the highest possible efficiency is maintained at all power levels. The device operates over a single +2.7V to +3.6V power-supply range. An on-chip shutdown feature reduces operating current to 0.5µA, eliminating the need for an external supply switch.

  • MAXIM MAX2645 handbook

The MAX2645 is a versatile, high-linearity, low-noise amplifier designed for 3.4GHz to 3.8GHz wireless local loop (WLL), wireless broadband access, and digital microwave radio applications. The device features an externally adjustable bias control, set with a single resistor, that allows the user to meet minimum linearity requirements while minimizing current consumption. The amplifier’s high-gain, low-noise performance and adjustable input third-order intercept (IP3) allow it to be used as a low-noise amplifier (LNA) in the receive path, a PA predriver in the transmit path, or as an LO buffer. The MAX2645 features a logic-level gain control that provides a 25dB step reduction in gain, which improves IP3 performance for operation during high input signal level conditions. Supply current is reduced from 9mA in high-gain mode to 3mA in low-gain mode. The device also includes a logic-controlled shutdown mode, which reduces supply current to 0.1µA. The MAX2645 operates from a +3V to +5.5V supply and is offered in the miniature 10-pin µMAX package (5mm × 3mm) with an exposed paddle. Its performance has been optimized for use with the MAX2683/MAX2684 3.5GHz SiGe mixers to provide a complete high-performance, front-end solution for 3.5GHz applications.

  • MAXIM MAX2371/MAX2373 handbook

MAX2371/MAX2373 are wideband low-noise amplifier (LNA) ICs designed for direct conversion receiver (DCR) or very low intermediate frequency (VLIF) receiver applications. They contain single-channel, single-ended LNA with switchable attenuator and automatic gain con- trol (AGC) intended as a low-noise gain stage. These devices provide high gain-control range (typically 60dB) at radio frequency (RF) with excellent noise and reverse isolation characteristics. The MAX2371/MAX2373 can work over the frequency range from 100MHz to 1GHz. In practice, only a narrow band is needed in each application, so different matching circuits can be applied. The devices are dynamically con- figured through the digital/analog control pins to select either maximum gain and low noise figure or power-saving mode. In addition, the MAX2371/MAX2373 feature high/low-current modes, high/low attenuation modes, lin- early controlled gain states, and shutdown mode.

  • MAXIM MAX12000 handbook

The MAX12000 is a car and ship GPS front-end amplifier IC, which has two unconditionally stable low-noise amplifier stages, providing high gain and integrated I/O matching, minimizing the need for external matching components and eliminating the need for additional gain stages. The MAX12000 provides the option to place a bandpass ceramic or SAW filter between the two amplifier stages to provide a narrow-band output, further improving the noise performance of the GPS receiver. Additionally, a 3.4dB gain step is provided to compensate for variation in cable loss between different applications. MAX12000 is designed to operate at the GPS frequency of 1575MHz with a typical cascaded gain of 34.8dB and a 25mA supply current. The two LNA stages allow the use of a wide range of GPS filter types for maximum flexibility in system design. The final RF output pin, which drives the cable to the GPS receiver, is also the power-supply connection that accepts a DC supply in the +3.0V to +5.5V range. Alternatively, the DC supply can be applied to pin 4. The GPS front-end amplifier is designed on a low-noise, advanced SiGe process and is available in a lead-free, 10-pin TDFN surface-mount package (3mm x 3mm). Applications are integrated automobile and marine GPS receivers.

  • MAXIM MAX2659 handbook

  • MAXIM MAX2634 handbook

The MAX2634 low-noise amplifier (LNA) is optimized for 315MHz and 433.92MHz automotive remote keyless entry (RKE) applications. At 315MHz, the LNA achieves 15.5dB power gain and a 1.25dB noise figure while only consuming 2.5mA of supply current from a 2.2V to 5.5V power supply. An integrated logic-controlled low-power shutdown mode reduces power consumption to 0.1µA and replaces the two transistors typically required to implement the shutdown function in discrete-based RKE LNA solutions. The device further reduces component count by integrating the output matching and DC-blocking components, and only requires a single inductor to match the input for best noise figure and input return loss. The device is available in a small 6-pin (2.0mm x 2.2mm x 0.9mm) lead-free SC70 package for automotive applications that require visual inspection of PCB solder connections.
