  • MAXIM MAX6615/MAX6616 Manual

The MAX6615/MAX6616 is a temperature sensor that monitors two temperature channels. It can be used to monitor the internal chip temperature and the temperature of an external thermistor, or the temperatures of two external thermistors. The temperature data controls a PWM output signal to adjust the speed of a cooling fan, thereby minimizing noise when the system is running cool, but providing maximum cooling when power dissipation increases. The fans’ tachometer output signals are monitored by the MAX6615/MAX6616 to detect fan failure. If a fan failure is detected, the FAN_FAIL output is asserted. The 2-wire serial interface accepts standard system management bus (SMBusTM) write byte, read byte, send byte, and receive byte commands to read the temperature data and program the alarm thresholds. The programmable alarm output can be used to generate interrupts, throttle signals, or overtemperature shut- down signals. The MAX6616 features six GPIOs to provide additional flexibility. All of the GPIOs power-up as inputs, with the exception of GPIO0, which powers up as either an input or an output as determined by connecting the PRESET pin to ground or VCC. The MAX6616 is available in a 24-pin QSOP package, while the MAX6615 is available in a 16-pin QSOP pack- age. Both devices operate from a single-supply voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V, have operating temperature ranges of -40°C to +125°C, and consume just 500µA of supply current. The device can be applied to desktop computers, servers, power supplies, and network equipment.

The DS1825 digital thermometer provides 9 to 12-bit centigrade temperature measurements and has an alarm function with NV user-programmable upper and lower trigger points. The DS1825 communicates over a 1-Wire bus that by definition requires only one data line (and ground) for communication with a central microprocessor. It has a unique 64-bit serial code stored in an on-board ROM, making it ideal for multidrop distributed temperature sensing applications.

  • MAXIM MAX6662 Manual

The MAX6662 is a 12-bit + sign temperature sensor combined with a programmable overtemperature alarm and a 3-wire (SPI-compatible) serial interface in a single package. It converts its die temperature into digital values using an internal analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The temperature data is stored in a temperature register as a 13-bit word, which allows 0.0625°C resolution. The temperature data is readable at any time through the serial interface. The operating temperature range is -55°C to +150°C. The MAX6662 provides two programmable watchdog interrupt outputs. ALERT is used for lower temperature warning functions, while OT is used for higher temperature-critical functions, such as power-supply shutdown. The MAX6662 features a shutdown mode that saves power by disabling everything except the serial interface. The temperature sensor is available in an 8-pin SO package.

  • MAXIM MAX6699 Manual

The MAX6699 precision multichannel temperature sensor monitors its own temperature and the temperatures of up to four external diode-connected transistors. All temperature channels have programmable alert thresholds. Channels 1 and 4 also have programmable overtemperature thresholds. When the measured temperature of a channel exceeds the respective threshold, a status bit is set in one of the status registers. Two open-drain outputs, OVERT and ALERT, assert corresponding to these bits in the status register. The 2-wire serial interface supports the standard system management bus (SMBus™) protocols: write byte, read byte, send byte, and receive byte for reading the temperature data and programming the alarm thresholds. The MAX6699 is specified for an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and is available in 16-pin QSOP and 16-pin TSSOP packages.

  • MAXIM MAX8576 MAX8579 Guide

MAX8576-MAX8579 is a low-cost, 3V to 28V input, hysteresis synchronous step-down controller with the following features: 1.2% accuracy, adjustable output voltage, 200kHz to 500kHz switching frequency, adjustable, temperature-compensated 'hiccup' current limiting, non-destructive peak current detection, monotonic start-up from prebiased output (MAX8576/MAX8578), start-up overvoltage protection (MAX8577/MAX8579), enable/disable, and adjustable soft-start.

  • MAXIM MAX8576 MAX8579 Manual

The MAX8576-MAX8579 synchronous PWM buck controllers use a hysteretic voltage-mode control algorithm to achieve a fast transient response without requiring loop compensation. The MAX8576/MAX8577 contain an internal LDO regulator allowing the controllers to function from only one 3V to 28V input supply. The MAX8578/MAX8579 do not contain the internal LDO and require a separate supply to power the IC when the input supply is higher than 5.5V. The MAX8576-MAX8579 output voltages are adjustable from 0.6V to 0.9 x VIN at loads up to 15A. Nominal switching frequency is programmable over the 200kHz to 500kHz range. High-side MOSFET sensing is used for adjustable hiccup current-limit and short-circuit protection. The MAX8576/MAX8578 can start up into a precharged output without pulling the output voltage down. The MAX8577/MAX8579 have startup output overvoltage protection (OVP), and will pull down a precharged output.

  • MAXIM MAX17710 handbook

The MAX17710 is a complete system for charging and protecting micropower-storage cells such as Infinite Power Solution’s THINERGY® microenergy cells (MECs). The IC can manage poorly regulated sources such as energy-harvesting devices with output levels ranging from 1FW to 100mW. The device also includes a boost regulator circuit for charging the cell from a source as low as 0.75V (typ). An internal regulator protects the cell from overcharging. Output voltages supplied to the target applications are regulated using a low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator with selectable voltages of 3.3V, 2.3V, or 1.8V. The output regulator operates in a selectable low-power or ultra-low-power mode to minimize drain of the cell. Internal voltage protection prevents the cell from overdischarging. The device is available in an ultra-thin, 3mm x 3mm x 0.5mm 12-pin UTDFN package.
