This document introduces the FAN480X PFC+PWM integrated controller from Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation. The controller consists of PFC and PWM controllers. The PFC controller, which uses average current control mode, can achieve higher power factor and lower total harmonic distortion. The PWM controller can be controlled in either current mode or voltage mode. The FAN480X has multiple protection features, including soft-start, over-voltage/under-voltage protection, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and low AC input voltage protection. The product can replace FAN4800 and ML4800.
