This file introduces the advantages of Varian nano-Electrospray Ionization Source (nESI), which can be connected to all current Varian LC/MS systems. nESI can improve the ionization efficiency of the sample, make the droplets in the sample solution smaller, reduce the contribution of solvent to the background noise, and thus improve the sensitivity. nESI can also be combined with 75-micron diameter columns and nano-flow LC pumps to increase sample concentration and sensitivity. nESI is suitable for low sample volume applications such as proteomics research because it consumes less sample.
