The ISL4260E is a QFN packaged ±15kV ESD protected, +3V to +5.5V, 150nA, 250kbps RS-232 transmitter/receiver with separate logic supply. It meets ElA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 specifications, even at VCC = 3.0V. It is designed for low power consumption applications such as PDAs, palmtops, and cell phones. The device features efficient on-chip charge pumps and a manual powerdown function to reduce standby supply current to 150nA. The compact 5mm x 5mm QFN packaging and use of small, low value capacitors save board space. It guarantees data rates greater than 250kbps under worst case load conditions. The ISL4260E also includes a VL pin for adjusting logic pin output levels and input thresholds for compatibility with the external logic. The single pin powerdown function (SHDN = 0) disables all receiver and transmitter outputs and shuts down the charge pump to minimize supply current drain.
