The RA8815 contains a built‑in 256 KByte word ROM that stores Chinese, numeric, English, Japanese, European and Latin fonts. Two model variants exist: RA8815G‑T with Traditional Chinese (BIG5) mapping and RA8815G‑S with Simplified Chinese (GB) mapping. Chinese characters are displayed in a 16×16 pixel area (actual 15×15).

The device also provides large (8×16 pixel, 1024 characters) and small (8×8 pixel, 512 characters) ASCII font tables.
