MAXIM MAX3097E/MAX3098E Manual

The MAX3097E/MAX3098E are three-channel high-speed RS-485/RS-422 receivers with fault-detection circuitry and fault-status outputs. The receivers' inputs have fault thresholds that detect when the part is not in a valid state. The MAX3097E/MAX3098E indicate when a receiver input is in an open-circuit condition, short-circuit condition, or outside the common-mode range. They also generate a fault indication when the differential input voltage goes below a preset threshold. See Ordering Information or the Electrical Characteristics for threshold values. The fault circuitry includes a capacitor-programmable delay to ensure that there are no erroneous fault conditions even at slow edge rates. Each receiver is capable of accepting data at rates up to 32Mbps.

MAXIM MAX9157 Manual

The MAX3157 is a high CMRR RS-485/RS-422 data communications interface providing ±50V isolation in a hybrid microcircuit. A single +5V supply on the logic side powers both sides of the interface, with external ±50V capacitors transferring power from the logic side to the isolated side. Each MAX3157 contains one transmitter and one receiver and is guaranteed to operate at data rates up to 250kbps. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic high receiver output if the inputs are open, shorted, or connected to a terminated transmission line with all drivers disabled. The MAX3157 typically draws 25mA of supply current when unloaded or when fully loaded with the driver disabled. Supply current drops to 25µA when the device is placed in shutdown mode. The device is pin selectable between half- and full-duplex mode and also features independently programmable receiver and transmitter output phase through separate pins. The MAX3157 is a low-cost replacement for opto-isolated transceivers. For fully isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceivers, refer to the MAX1480 family data sheet.

MAXIM MAX1253/MAX1254 Manual

The MAX1253/MAX1254 are 10-channel (8 external, 2 internal) 12-bit system monitor ADCs with internal reference. A programmable single-ended/diff- ferential mux accepts voltage and remote-diode tem- perature-sensor inputs. These devices independently monitor the input channels without microprocessor interaction and generate an interrupt when any variable exceeds user-defined limits. The MAX1253/MAX1254 configure both high and low limits, as well as the num- ber of fault cycles allowed, before generating an inter- rupt. These ADCs can also perform recursive data averaging for noise reduction. Programmable wait inter- vals between conversion sequences allow the selection of the sample rate. At the maximum sampling rate of 94ksps (auto mode, single channel enabled), the MAX1253 consumes only 5mW (1.7mA at 3V). AutoShutdownTM reduces supply current to 190µA at 2ksps and to less than 8µA at 50sps. Stand-alone operation, combined with ease of use in a small package (16-pin TSSOP), makes the MAX1253/ MAX1254 ideal for multichannel system-monitoring applications. Low power consumption also makes these devices a good fit for hand-held and battery-pow- ered applications.
