EXTECH RF10/RF15 Manual
Update: 29 September, 2023
Congratulations on your purchase of the Extech RF10 or RF15 Brix Refractometer. These precision optical instruments should be handled gently and the optical surface should be avoided from touching. Careful use of these instruments will provide years of reliable service. The refractive index of a sample is measured and displayed in % Brix. The instrument has a range of 0 to 32% Brix with a resolution of 0.2%. The dimensions and weight vary for each model. The instrument requires zero adjustment and cleaning of the prism before use. To take a sample reading, a few drops of the sample liquid are placed on the measurement prism and the liquid is spread across the entire surface without air bubbles or dry spots. The sample remains on the prism for approximately 30 seconds and the sucrose concentration is determined by the intersection of the light/dark boundary observed through the eyepiece.
