This document introduces the Agilent PL aquagel-OH MIXED-H 8 μm columns, which provide high resolution (>35,000 plates/m) over a very wide range of molecular weights, simplifying column selection and providing a flexible analytical system. Due to the extremely hydrophilic nature of these columns, neutral polymers such as polyethylene glycol/oxide (PEG/PEO) can be run with pure water as the eluent, using size exclusion chromatography (SEC). Figure 1 shows a typical raw data chromatogram for a mixture of Agilent PEO/PEG standards. The broad molecular weight resolving range of the PL aquagel-OH MIXED-H 8 μm column is clearly evident.
