Agilent Determination of the N-Nitrosamine Content in Rubber Articles Using the Agilent 7000A Triple Quadrupole GC/MS System Manual

This application note describes a method for determining the N-nitrosamine content in rubber articles using the Agilent 7000A triple quadrupole GC/MS system. The method employs an internal standard, N-nitroso-N-dipropylamine (NDPA), for the trace-level detection and confirmation of seven target N-amines, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA), N-nitrosodibutylamine (NDBA), N-nitrosopiperidine (NPIP), N-nitrosopyrrolidine (NPYR), N-nitrosomorpholine (NMOR), and N-nitroso-N-ethyl-N-phenylamine (NEPhA). The resulting low method detection limit, good linearity, and sample recovery demonstrate the high selectivity and sensitivity of the method described in this application note for trace-level detection and confirmation of the targeted N-amines in complex sample matrices.
