This Application Note describes the isolation of three antianginal drugs (nifedipine, nisoldipine, and nimodipine) from a mixture as an example application for purification of pharmaceutical drugs using the Agilent 1100 Series purification1,2 system PS (preparative scale). The goal of the application was to purify 20 mg of each compound in a single run and to get three fractions containing only the desired substances.
