Agilent 6460 Triple Quad LC/MS System Quick Start Guide
Update: 29 September, 2023
This document provides a quick start guide for the Agilent 6460 Triple Quad LC/MS system, including steps for starting the data acquisition software, preparing the LC modules and Triple Quad instrument, setting up and running acquisition methods, reviewing results with the Qualitative Analysis program, and setting up and running quantitation. The Agilent 6460 Triple Quad LC/MS is a liquid chromatograph-triple quadrupole mass spectrometer that performs MS/MS using three sets of parallel rods (quadrupole, hexapole, quadrupole). The first quadrupole separates ions into precursor ions that are fragmented in the hexapole into product ions, which are separated by the second quadrupole. Often, two or more precursor ions and their product ions are monitored in sequence in MRM (multiple reaction monitoring) mode. The Agilent 6460 Triple Quad LC/MS is shipped with the Agilent Jet Stream Technology, which utilizes a super-heated sheath gas to collimate the nebulizer spray and increase the number of ions entering the mass spectrometer. The system can be set up with either the Agilent 1100LC or 1200LC modules. It also includes the Agilent MassHunter Workstation Software with three programs.
