The AD7873 is a 12-bit successive approximation ADC with a synchronous serial interface and low on resistance switches for driving touch screens. It operates from a single 2.2 V to 5.25 V power supply and features a specified throughput rate of 125 kSPS. The AD7873 has a 4-wire touch screen interface, an on-chip temperature sensor, and a 2.5 V reference voltage. It also supports direct battery measurement (0 V to 6 V) and touch pressure measurement. The device offers programmable 8-bit or 12-bit resolution, one auxiliary analog input, and a shutdown mode with a maximum current consumption of 1 μA. It can be widely used in personal digital assistants, smart handheld devices, touch screen monitors, point-of-sale terminals, pagers, and other applications.
