ADV601LC is an ultralow cost video codec that supports precise compressed bit rate control, field independent compression, and an 8-bit video interface compatible with CCIR-656 and multiplexed Philips formats. It has a general purpose 16- or 32-bit host interface with a 512 deep 32-bit FIFO. The codec is capable of real-time compression or decompression of CCIR-601 digital video with compression ratios from visually loss-less to 350:1. It is suitable for applications such as PC video editing, remote CCTV surveillance, digital camcorders, digital video tape, wireless video systems, and TV instant replay.
