VAISALA WSP150 Operating Instructions

Update: 30 September, 2023

The Vaisala Surge Protector WSP150 is a compact transient overvoltage suppressor designed for outdoor use. It can be used with all Vaisala anemometers, weather stations and converters to protect these devices from surges entering via the power and signal cables. For example, a nearby lightning strike may induce high surge voltages that are not tolerated by the surge suppressors built into the instruments. Therefore, in areas with frequent thunderstorms, an additional surge protector is required, especially if long cables over 30 meters are used. We recommend installing and using a surge protector at all locations with a high risk of lightning strikes, such as the tops of tall buildings or pillars and in open areas. The WSP150 also has filters that block HF and RF noise induced in cables installed on radio transmission masts, power line transmission towers, etc.
