S/PDIF is an inexpensive interface for connecting all amateur format products such as CD players, PC sound cards, DVD players or other devices with this interface. S/PDIF is very similar to the AES3 interface and uses the same frame structure and coding format. S/PDIF transmits data via unbalanced cable or optical cable. Channel status information is a specification for amateur format. Only sampling frequencies up to 48kHz are specified.
