The CAT4016 is a 16-channel constant current LED driver from Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. The driver has 16 constant current sink channels and can output 2mA to 100mA of LED current. The output voltage is as low as 0.4V. The driver uses a high-speed 4-wire serial interface of up to 25MHz clock frequency to control each individual channel using a shift register and latch configuration. The driver also includes a blanking control pin (BLANK) that can be used to disable all channels independently of the interface. The driver also has thermal shutdown protection to disable the LED outputs if the die temperature exceeds a set limit.

The CAT93CXXXX is a single chip solution to three popular functions of EEPROM memory, precision reset controller and watchdog timer. The serial EEPROM memory of the 93CXXXX can be configured either by 16- bits or by 8-bits. Each register can be written (or read) by using the DI (or DO pin). The reset function of the 93CXXXX protects the system during brown out and power up/down conditions. During system failure the watchdog timer feature protects the microcontroller with a reset signal. Catalyst's advanced CMOS technology substantially reduces device power requirements. The 93CXXXX is available in 8-pin DIP, 8- pin TSSOP or 8-pin SOIC packages. The CAT3643 is a high efficiency Quad-ModeTM fractional charge pump that can drive up to three LEDs programmable by a one wire digital interface. The inclusion of a 1.33x fractional charge pump mode increases device efficiency by up to 10% over traditional 1.5x charge pumps with no added external capacitors. Low noise input ripple is achieved by operating at a constant switching frequency which allows the device to have high efficiency and stability.

The CAT809 and CAT810 are µP supervisory circuits that monitor power supplies in digital systems. They are direct replacements for the MAX809 and MAX810 in applications operating over the industrial temperature range. These devices generate a reset signal, which is asserted while the power supply voltage is below a preset threshold level and for at least 140 ms after the power supply level has risen above that level.

This document describes the features and applications of the CAT5114 32-Tap Digitally Programmable Potentiometer (DPP™) by Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. The potentiometer has 32-position linear taper, non-volatile EEPROM storage, and ultra-low standby current. It can be incrementally adjusted through a serial interface and can be used as a three-terminal resistive divider or a two-terminal variable resistor.

The CAT5419 is a dual Digitally Programmable Potentiometers (DPP™) with 64 taps and a 2-wire interface. It features two linear-taper digital potentiometers, 64 resistor taps per potentiometer, end to end resistance of 2.5kΩ, 10kΩ, 50kΩ or 100kΩ, potentiometer control and memory access via a 2-wire interface (I2C like), low wiper resistance of typically 80, four non-volatile wiper settings for each potentiometer, recall of wiper settings at power up, 2.5 to 6.0 volt operation, standby current less than 1µA, 1,000,000 nonvolatile WRITE cycles, 100 year nonvolatile memory data retention, 24-lead SOIC and 24-lead TSSOP packages, and write protection for the data register.

The CAT4016 is a 16 channel constant current driver for LED billboard and other general display applications. LED channel currents are programmed together via an external RSET resistor. Low output voltage operation on the LED channels as low as 0.4V (for 2 to 100mA LED current) allows for more power efficient designs. A high-speed 4-wire serial interface of up to 25MHz clock frequency controls each individual channel using a shift register and latch configuration. A serial output data pin (SOUT) allows multiple devices to be cascaded and programmed via one serial interface. The device also includes a blanking control pin (BLANK) that can be used to disable all channels independently of the interface. Thermal shutdown protection is incorporated in the device to disable the LED outputs if the die temperature exceeds a set limit.

CAT1024, CAT1025 are complete memory and supervisory solutions for microcontroller-based systems. A 2k-bit serial EEPROM memory and a system power supervisor with brown-out protection are integrated together in low power CMOS techno-logy. Memory interface is via a 400kHz I2C bus. The CAT1025 provides a precision VCC sense circuit and two open drain outputs: one (RESET) drives high and the other (RESET) drives low whenever VCC falls below the reset threshold voltage. The CAT1025 also has a Write Protect input (WP). Write operations are disabled if WP is connected to a logic high. The CAT1024 also provides a precision VCC sense circuit, but has only a RESET output and does not have a Write Protect input.

The CAT4238 is a DC/DC step-up converter from Catalyst Semiconductor that provides an accurate constant current ideal for driving LEDs. It features high efficiency, low quiescent current, adjustable output current, low noise, soft start, etc.

The CAT5114 is a digitally programmable potentiometer designed by Catalyst Semiconductor as an electronic replacement for mechanical potentiometers and trim pots. It is ideal for automated adjustments on high volume production lines, and is also well suited for applications where equipment requiring periodic adjustment is either difficult to access or located in a hazardous or remote environment.
