RailClamps are ultra low capacitance TVS arrays designed to protect high speed data interfaces. This series has been specifically designed to protect sensitive components which are connected to high-speed data and transmission lines from overvoltage caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge), CDE (Cable Discharge Events), and EFT (electrical fast transients). The RClampTM0522P and RClampTM0524P have a typical capacitance of only 0.30pF between I/O pins. This allows it to be used on circuits operating in excess of 3GHz without signal attenuation. They may be used to meet the ESD immunity requirements of IEC 61000-4-2, Level 4 (±15kV air, ±8kV contact discharge). The RClamp0522P is designed to protect two lines, while the RClamp0524P will protect four lines. The RClamp0522P is in a 6-pin, RoHS/WEEE compliant, SLP1610P4 package. It measures 1.6 x 1.0 x 0.58mm. The RClamp0524P is in a 10-pin, RoHS/WEEE compliant, SLP2510P8 package. It measures 2.5 x 1.0 x 0.58mm. The leads are spaced at a pitch of 0.5mm and are finished with lead-free NiPd. They are designed for easy PCB layout by allowing the traces to run straight through the device. The combination of small size, low capacitance, and high level of ESD protection makes them a flexible solution.

SC486 is a power management chip for DDR1/2/3 memory systems from Semtech. It integrates switching power supply and linear source/sink regulator functions. The switching regulator is used to provide the supply voltage VDDQ for the memory system. It is a pseudo-fixed frequency constant on-time controller designed for high efficiency, high accuracy DC voltage and fast transient response. The linear source/sink regulator is used to generate the memory termination voltage VTT, with the ability to source and sink a 3A peak current. For the VDDQ regulator, the switching frequency is constant until a step in load or line voltage occurs at which time the pulse density, i.e. frequency, will increase or decrease to counter the transient change in output or input voltage. After the transient, the frequency will return to steady-state operation. At lighter loads, the selectable Power-Save Mode enables the PWM converter to reduce its switching frequency and improve efficiency. The integrated gate drivers feature adaptive shoot-through protection and soft-switching. For the VTT regulator, the output voltage tracks VREF, which is ½ VDDQ to provide an accurate termination voltage. The VTT output is generated from a 1.2V to VDDQ input by a linear source/sink regulator which is designed for high DC accuracy, fast transient response, and low external component count. Additional features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting.

The RClamp0504P is a low capacitance TVS array from Semtech designed to protect high bandwidth data interfaces. This series has been specifically designed to protect sensitive components which are connected to data and transmission lines from overvoltage caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge), CDE (Cable Discharge Events), and EFT (electrical fast transients). Its unique design incorporates surge rated, low capacitance steering diodes and a TVS diode in a single package. During transient conditions, the steering diodes direct the transient current to ground. The internal TVS diode clamps the transient voltage to a safe level. The low capacitance array configuration allows the user to protect up to four high-speed data lines. The RClamp0504P is in a 6-pin, RoHS compliant, SLP1616P6 package. It measures 1.6 x 1.6 x 0.60mm. The leads are spaced at a pitch of 0.5mm and are finished with lead-free NiPdAu. They may be used to meet the ESD immunity requirements of IEC 61000-4-2, Level 4 (15kV air, 8kV contact discharge). The combination of small size, low capacitance, and high ESD surge capability makes them ideal for use in por- table applications such as cellular phones, next genera- tion color LCD displays, USB, and multi media card interfaces.
