Semi-preparative and preparative HPLC using the Agilent 1100 Series purification system is described in this application note. This technique is commonly used for isolating and purifying single compounds from mixtures, such as synthesis products, combinatorial chemistry library compounds, and isomers or enantiomers. The goal is to obtain the desired compounds in high purity and sufficient quantity for structure elucidation using NMR, MS, and IR spectroscopy. The Agilent 1100 Series purification system provides sample handling and fraction collection capabilities at flow rates up to 100 ml/min.
