The document describes an optical sensor for detecting liquid surface contamination. The sensor consists of a light source, a lens, a photodetector and an optical filter. The light from the light source is focused on the liquid surface by the lens. The contamination on the liquid surface scatters the light beam, which is received by the photodetector. By processing the output signal from the photodetector, the concentration of the contamination on the liquid surface can be determined. The sensor has the advantages of fast detection speed, high sensitivity, high reliability, etc.
