The APPASAMY ASSOCIATES SLIT LAMP is a special microscope that provides a magnificent three-dimensional view of the various parts of the human eye. It is used to view the anterior parts of the eye including the cornea, lens, iris and the anterior section of the vitreous humor. Special lenses can be placed between the slit lamp and the cornea or directly on the cornea, in order to visualize deeper structures of the eye, such as the optic nerve and the drainage area of the eye fluid. A photographic camera can be attached to the slit lamp to effect photographic shots of various parts of the eye.
