VIPer53E is a single-ended boost converter controller from ST. It features a breakdown voltage of 620V, a RDS(on) of 1 ohm at 25°C and a typical handling output power of 40W for a 85 to 265Vac voltage mains. VIPer53E also features an automatic burst mode, which allows for very low consumption in standby conditions. VIPer53E is mainly used in AC/DC converters for consumer equipment such as set-top boxes, DVDs and VCRs, but can also be used for stand-by power supplies for servers or in home appliances where a very efficient AC/DC power supply in buck topology is needed.
