The SC617 is a high-current charge pump specifically designed for use with white LEDs used in camera flash applications. Only two small bucket capacitors are required to develop the output drive, providing a low EMI solution compared to inductive boost regulators. The SC617 has two modes of operation: flash mode and spotlight mode. In flash mode, the SC617 is capable of delivering 500mA of regulated current for a duration of 500ms or up to 700mA for a reduced duration. A safety timer is also included to ensure the LED cannot be left on indefi nitely and overheat. In spotlight mode the SC617 outputs 30% of the flash current.

The SC614 is a low noise backlight and flash driver with a serial interface. It features four independent current sinks for main backlight, adjustable from 0.4mA to 32mA each. It also has three independent current sinks for sub-backlight or flash, adjustable from 0.4mA to 102mA each. Each of 7 LED currents can be programmed via the I2C serial control bus. M1 through M4 are for LED backlighting of LCD main displays. S1/FL3 through S3/FL1 can be used for backlighting sub displays.
