CS5317 is a 16-bit, 20 kHz oversampling A/D converter from Cirrus Logic that provides a complete voiceband DSP front-end, including a 16-bit A/D converter, internal track-and-hold amplifier, on-chip voltage reference, linear-phase digital filter, and on-chip phase-lock loop (PLL) for simplified output phase locking in modem applications. The CS5317 features DSP-compatible serial interface and offers output word rates up to 20 kHz. It is also characterized by low power dissipation (220 mW).

This document introduces the Cirrus Logic CRD4201-2 Advanced Communications Riser (ACR) reference design, which features six channel analog audio outputs and a optical S/PDIF digital output. This board uses the CS4201 audio codec, which has many advanced features such as a built-in headphone amplifier, up to 30 dB of microphone boost and serial digital audio outputs. The reference design is available by ordering the CMK4201-2 manufacturing kit. This kit includes a full set of schematic design files (OrCAD® 7.2 and Or- CAD® 9.1 formats), PCB job files (PADS® ASCII), PCB artwork files and bill of materials. This reference design offers significant cost advantages, as it is based on a 2-layer low cost PC board.

The CS5516 and CS5520 are complete solutions for digitizing low-level signals from strain gauges, load cells, and pressure transducers. These devices offer an on-chip software programmable instrumentation amplifier block, choice of DC or AC bridge excitation, and software selectable reference and signal demodulation. The CS5516 uses delta-sigma modulation to achieve 16-bit resolution at output word rates up to 60 Hz. The CS5520 achieves 20-bit resolution at word rates up to 60 Hz. The CS5516 and CS5520 sample at a rate set by the user in the form of either an external CMOS clock or a crystal. On-chip digital filtering provides rejection of all frequencies.

The CS5521/22/23/24/28 are highly integrated ∆Σ Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) which use charge-balance techniques to achieve 16-bit (CS5521/23) and 24-bit (CS5522/24/28) performance. The ADCs come as either two-channel (CS5521/22), four-channel (CS5523/24), or eight-channel (CS5528) devices, and include a low input current, chopper-stabilized instrumentation amplifier. To permit selectable input spans of 25 mV, 55 mV, 100 mV, 1 V, 2.5 V, and 5 V, the ADCs include a PGA (Programmable Gain Amplifier).
